BEACH TOWN · CENTRAL PACIFIC

Jacó

Jacó is a compact Central Pacific beach town in Garabito, Puntarenas—long dark-sand beach, walkable commercial strip, and easy access from San José via Routes 27 and 34. Use it for beach days, casual evenings, and launching nearby adventures—not as a one-note surf fantasy.

Jacó

A beach town you can actually use as a base.

Make it your own

Orient yourself in three layers: (1) the beach corridor for swim, stroll, and sunset; (2) the main commercial axis (often referenced around Avenida Pastor Díaz / central strip) for food, services, and evening energy; (3) short hops north to Herradura / Los Sueños and south toward Playa Hermosa when you want a different shoreline mood. Walk or use registered taxis for in-town hops; save a rental car for Carara, Manuel Antonio, or longer Costanera days.

Before you go

Build one unhurried beach day before stacking tours. Confirm activity meeting points (town vs Herradura marina area), park tickets where required, and afternoon rain patterns in green season. Compare experiences on Viator/GetYourGuide; send deal-hunting to jacodeals.com. We do not list hotel rates or partner restaurants on launch.
